Shapiro, Arato & Isserles Wins Second Circuit Ruling Granting Bail Pending Appeal in Tax And Wire Fraud Case
On May 7, 2014, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit granted the motion of our client, a 65-year-old widow, and her co-defendant, for release on bail pending our appeal of her criminal conviction. The case involved “gifting tables,” women’s social groups with a financial element in which hundreds of women in Connecticut participated. The appeal presents a number of substantial issues related to the trial and the sentences.

Alexandra A.E. Shapiro, James Darrow, and Chetan A. Patil authored the briefs.
