Ann E. Philip

Ann’s practice focuses on litigation. Prior to joining Shapiro Arato Bach in 2026, Ann was an associate at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, where her practice focused on complex commercial disputes and employment. Ann previously clerked for a federal appellate judge in the Third Circuit. While in law school, she was editor-in-chief of the Yale Journal of International Law and co-chair of the Jewish Law Students Association; she interned at the New York City Law Department and in the legal department of Goldman Sachs & Co. Ann is proficient in French and Spanish and conversational in Portuguese. She is the author of the article “Shooing the Vultures? The Case for Investment Treaty Protection of Sovereign Debt,” 37 Arbitration International 1 (2021), which received the William T. Ketcham Jr. Prize for best paper in the field of private international law. From 2016–2017, she was a Fulbright fellow in France, and from 2018–2019 she was on the board of the Rikers Debate Project.
